Lesson Plan for September 12-23
Kindergarten
- March in to Mr. Drum
- Review Music Class rules
- Bump, Bump, Bump - Listen to and sing the song story from last week
- Echo Slide Whistle Sounds
- No More Pie - echo song
- Frog in the Meadow - listen to the simple song while performing different actions
- Bubbles - Move to music around the room in an imaginary bubble while listening to music (Recordings: "The Fish" from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens or Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig Van Beethoven)
- Play rhythms sticks to marching band music using the different ways we learned to play the sticks last week
- Take a "trip" to the farm - students will learn the song "Goin' to the Farm" and name some farm animals and when a duck is named we will learn the song "Listen to the Ducks" and add rhythm stick clicks for every quack in the song
- Sing Old MacDonald had a Farm with only the ducks (We will add more animals in other lessons)
- Listen to and participate in the story "Pete the Cat: Rocking in my School Shoes" from last week

1st Grade
- March in to Mr. Drum

- "In the Woods" -echo and accumulation song, test memory by asking questions about the order of the song
- "Peep Squirrel" - Listen to the simple song while performing different actions
- Bubbles - Move to music around the room in an imaginary bubble while listening to music (Recordings: "The Fish" from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens or Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig Van Beethoven)
- Hickory Dickory Dock - each student will play the tick tock block or woodblock to the steady beat while the class says the poem. Divide the class into two groups, one side will say the poem, while the other side says tick tock and switch sides.
- Say the poem I Think Music's Neat while playing the steady beat on rhythm sticks. Give opportunities for the students to perform by themselves

- Kye Kye Kule - echo song from Ghana
- Hop Old Squirrel - listen to the simple song while performing actions
- Bubbles - Move to music around the room in an imaginary bubble while listening to music (Recordings: "The Fish" from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens or Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig Van Beethoven)
- Rhythm echo using body percussion -stomps, pats, claps and snaps
- Learn song Charlie Over the Ocean for activity next week
