Lesson Plans March 21 - April 1
Kindergarten
- Slide Whistle Echo to warm up voices
- Bean Bag toss - Follow a bean bag with voices going up and down.
- Bean Bag toss solos - each student will toss the bean bag and follow it up and down with their voices
- Review Frog in the Meadow and add a new part of the song
- Talk about patterns in music and come up with shapes to represent each part of the Frog in the Meadow song AB and ABA patterns
- Meet Kitty and learn Naughty Kitty Cat song
- Begin the story Bad Kitty and sing the Nauthy Kitty Cat song every time Kitty doesn't make a good choice
1st Grade
- Review Sol and Mi - add La and practice Sol-La-Mi echo
- Down by the Bay - students may choose to sing their rhyme as a solo - listening for singing voice and matching pitch
- Review each instrument clue and introduce the sound detective game
- Play sound detective game - students listen to instrument sounds (Without seeing the instrument) and identify them by pictures and names
2nd Grade
- Sol-La-Mi Game
- Down by the Bay - student will echo each other Side 1 and Side 2 will take turns starting the song - students can also sing their made up rhymes as a solo
- Acka Backa song - compare the words to actual notes and follow the movement of the 'notes' - sing song using Solfege and with Words while patting the steady beat
- Introduce the Xylophone and Glockenspiel and how to play each
- Sing song Acka Backa while taking turns playing the steady beat on the Xylophone and Glockenspiel Orff Instruments
