Lesson Plans February 14-25
Kindergarten
- March in to Mr. Drum - play game Mr. Drum says: this is like simon says only with Mr. Drum and different ways of moving (jump, hop, slide, gallop, tiptoe, stomp, etc.)
- Warm-up singing - Slide Whistle echo and following the bean bag with your voice
- Simple Song - Frog in the Meadow
- Fast & Slow animals - students will take turns naming a fast or slow animal while the class pats on thier lap like that animal
- Introduce the Tortoise and the Hare and read the story with students patting fast or slow for each animal and each animal's song.
- Introduce music terms for fast and slow Allegro and Andante and practice identifying fast and slow using these music terms
- Leave singing Frog in the Meadow as a solo to Froggie
1st Grade
- Echo activity using "This is my Speaking Voice" - Different Voices (Speaking, Whisper, Calling, and Singing)
- Echo song - Down by the Bay
- Sound Projects: Read story "How Does a Trumpet Work?" and follow experiments in book to show that vibrations produce sounds and that we can feel sounds. Answer the questions: "What is sound?" and "Can We Feel Sound?"
2nd Grade
- Vocal Warm-up: SLM game
- Echo Song: Down By the Bay add pat-clap pattern after comfortable with the song
- Instrument families band game:
- Review instrument families
- Pick instruments from each family
- Follow conductor cues to start and stop
- Read and echo rhythms
