Lesson Plans September 17-21, 2012

Kindergarten
-March in to Mr. Drum's beat
-Sing Bump, Bump, Bump from last week
-Echo/Imitate a slide whistlle using high and low sounds.
-Echo sing No More Pie
-Listen to the simple song Frog in the Meadow
-Bubble Game: Students will move expressively to music inside their bubbles. Music is "Fish" from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint Sans
-Sing the song "Goin' to the Farm" and name some animals that we may see at the farm. When someone names a hen or a chicken stop and listen to the song "Listen to the Hens" Before singing the song we will learn about the xylophone which is the instrument we sing the song with.
-Students will clap on the words cluck, cluck, cluck in the song.
-Introduce the tanbourine and how to play it. Students will take turns playing the tambourine in place of the claps to the song "Listen to the Hens"
-Explore different ways to use our voices by echoing (Speaking, whisper, calling, and singing voices)
-Award Behavior Beats and line-up

1st Grade
-March in to Mr. Drum's beat
-Review the poem Hickory Dickory Dock from last week
-Students will learn about the tic-toc block. Say the poem to the steady beat of the tic-toc blocks. Wait for 4 beats before saying the poem. This is called an introduction. Discuss introductions in music.
-Each student will play the tic-toc block to the steady beat while the class says the poem. Teacher will asses the students ability to keep a steady beat
-Voice Warm-up: Echo/Imitate a slide whistlle using high and low sounds.
-Echo sing the song "Down by the Bay" practicing matching pitch
-Listen to the simple song "Peep Squirrel" and perform different actions on the word peep
- Bubble Game: Students will move expressively to music inside their bubbles. Music is "Fish" from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint Sans
-Introduce and Review the Glockenspiel from Kindgeraten. Turn the glockenspiel sideways and discuss up and down playing on the glockenspiel  in relation to a mouse running up or down a clock. Turn the glockenspiel the correct way and discover which way is playing up and which way is playing down. Practice playing with our fingers while we say the poem. Go up on the word up and down on the word down.

2nd Grade
-March in to Mr. Drum's beat
-Voice Warm-up: Echo/Imitate a slide whistle using high and low sounds
-Review and play the game Sol-La-Mi from 1st Grade
-Introduce our echo song "Kye Kye Kule"  from the country of Ghana in Africa. Discuss different languages in different countries.
-Echo sing "Kye Kye Kule"
-Simple song: Students will listen to "Hop Old Squirrel" while performing the actions mentioned in the song (hop, fly, and run)
- Bubble Game: Students will move expressively to music inside their bubbles. Music is "Fish" from Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint Sans
-Review poem Go Go Go with claps and drum beat from last week.
-Play drum passing game using the poem Go Go Go. Say the poem, pass the drum, say the poem, pass the drum... etc. While teaching the game relate it to a pattern of ABA. Experiment with different tempos and eventually perform the game without saying the words to the poem, only use the drum beats.
-Learn the song Charlie Over the Ocean that we will use next week.
